DC Starlight Orchestra

About

The DC Starlight Orchestra is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides music education and performance opportunities. This jazz big band, composed mostly of Federal employees in the Washington DC area, performs charts from the swing era to today at a variety of events, including community music concert series, nonprofit fundraisers, senior centers, and private events.

We believe in the power of music to bring people together in spirit and in harmony and we want to share the beauty and history of jazz with you. Please join our mailing list to get information on our upcoming performances.

DC Starlight can perform as a full big band (5 saxes, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets + rhythm), little big band (four horns + rhythm), or combo (one or two horns + rhythm) to best suit the venue or event needs. Please send an email to dcstarlightorchestra@gmail.com if you would like to learn more about the band or reserve the band for a performance. We welcome adult musicians to contact us if they would like to perform with the band.

We rehearse at Calvary United Methodist Church (Arlington, VA) and are grateful for their support.

DC Starlight Little Big Band plays a special reception and fundraiser on Monday, September 14th, 6:30 pm, at the Ballston Exchange Arlington, VA. This event raises funds for Embracing Arlington Arts.

Embracing Arlington Arts is an independent citizens group comprised of arts supporters whose mission is to advance the vibrancy and health of the arts and culture in Arlington through advocacy and awareness programs, outreach initiatives, and projects that enhance equitable access to the arts and cultural environment. Check out over 40 local artists, gift shop, and live music from the DC Starlight Combo. The ARTS Place Pop-up Gallery will be held at the former Walgreens drugstore on Langston Blvd., across from Lyon Village Shopping Center at Spout Run. This gallery is hosted by Arlington Artists Alliance, which is a nonprofit that promotes local visual artists.
